Seattle is going crazy with honking and elation. It's fantastic! And Christine is still our Governor. PHEW!

Congrats from Germany, too. And good luck to him. He'll need it.

Yah, what Dave2 said!

Yep, now the burden is on the Democrats and Obama. We could get a lot done and do a lot of good or we could just strengthen the Republican party. I pray the Democrats get it together and can make some progress. As happy as I am, I'm not totally confident in them as a whole.

I don't think I've ever seen so many of my friends and family so interested in the US elections before. It might be premature, but the feeling of optimism here palpable.

Congratulations from Down Under... we wish President Elect Obama all the best in salvaging America's reputation abroad.

Congrats P.E. Obama and family! I'm glad to witness history that is a long needed positive step forward!

Our family was very divided over this election. While I'm celebrating this morning, my joy is tempered by the knowledge that my brother is not a happy camper.

Well said! Well said indeed.

Posted by Tuli on November 05, 2008 | Reply

And the election ended on time!

You said fuck. Hehehe. For the first time in my little blog's history, I said fuck in my post today. I wanted to talk like the big guys.

Best political blog statement I've read this morning!
Amen to that! All of it. :)

I just hope he stops with all the big open air events now. It scares me with some of these nut-cases out there.

Enjoy the honeymoon. I'm far more skeptical about our politicians due to the way their campaigning creates ties to special interest groups. Regardless of which side won I'd still be bracing for impact. Ugh! Maybe this dude will bring us some campaign reform... Now, that would be a nice change.

Hope lives... and yeah, buddy, don't fuck it up.

I'm excited that I got to vote.

While I'm happy Obama won, it's tempered by a sick feeling the over prop 8 loss. I don't live in California but this is a big setback to freedom in this country. I do have big hopes for Obama though. Hope he can live up to our hopes. He sure as hell has his work cut out for him, though.

You are so right! Congrats, good luck, do a good job, just always remember who elected you and why. That's what always seems to happen to politicians. They forget why they're there. I hope he doesn't.

It is truly amazing I never thought I would be alive the day that we could elect a black guy to be president. It is so awesome to be in America today.

Your cartoons make me smile almost as much as not having Dubya in office anymore.

It's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind!

Posted by twinkie on November 06, 2008 | Reply

Yes... nice to have some hope for changes. And I think we'll be in good hands.... at least I hope so. No more fuck ups.

Posted by ChillyWilly on November 06, 2008 | Reply

I was convinced that a black man would never get elected in this country. I have met too many self-admitted racists.

Congratulations President Elect Obama.

Now, as a Republican: See you in 2012 :)

Dave - you've got to check this website out - it shows no disrepect and is TOO funny, and I'm sure President-elect Obama would find it funny too.

We had an election night party. When Obama gave his acceptance speech there was not 1 dry eye in the room. My mom said she was getting drunk & did, but she said if Obama won she'd be drunk for 1 night and if McCain won she'd stay drunk for 4 years!

There are no words to express my elation. I feel hopeful again! I feel like we've got American back!

Michelle, I strongly believe Prop 8 will be overturned by the Calif. Supreme Court. Plus they're investigating the Mormon church for wrongful involvement & unreported financial issues.

Dave, sorry again for posting so late.
