Peaceful

Posted on August 6, 2008

Dave!As I had mentioned a couple times before, the small town where I live has a weekly anti-war protest in the center of town at the main intersection. It's usually just two or three people holding up signs with Bible scriptures and Jesus quotes promoting peace. The reaction from the locals here is not exactly pleasant.

Today one reaction was positively hostile.

As I was driving through downtown, I heard the moron two cars ahead of me revving the engine of his massive pick-up truck (stereotype much?) as he approached the protestors, heading straight at them. I guess the joke was supposed to be that he (or she!) was going to run them down on the sidewalk.

HA! HA! HA! HA!

Yeah, that's hysterical.

Because wanting peace is so stupid!

Apparently if you disagree with somebody, that give you the right to terrorize them?

I felt bad for the two ladies there, so I flashed them a peace-sign as I drove by...

DAVETOON: Lil' Dave and Bad Monkey dressed up as hippies.

Bleh.

The credit card company finally unfrozed my account this afternoon so I could send the remainder of the orders I have stacked up. I got through 38 of them before the post office closed, leaving 27 for tomorrow.

After those are gone, there are about 30 orders left waiting for the missing "Monkey Button Ladies T-Shirt" to arrive. They were supposed to be here yesterday or today, but didn't show up. If they don't arrive tomorrow, I will send the orders out anyway and back-order the shirt until I get back from Davecago, Dave Louis, and Dave Lake City.

Oog. That reminds me... I need to pack.

Did they at least flash the peace sign back?

Do you live in my town? That sounds SO typical of the nimrods here.

I didn't realize you had to ship out the orders on your own. Wow. Kudos.

Maybe he just wanted to run people over for fun? I do that all the time. They're worth points, you know.

Yay! Got my stuff, yesterday. NYC has been Monkeyfied, now! Everything is even cooler than expected. I'm amazed that it got here in only 2 days from WA, too. Thanks for all your hard work (and brilliance), Dave. Peace, Dude!

The best part about living in a small town is getting away sometimes. Safe travels.

You know what they say about men with big trucks...

Dude, I SO want one of those hippie graphics - got one with a woman? ;-) Take payment in chocolate pudding?

Yeah, I get to encounter jerks like that all the time while I'm out riding my bike. Somehow these motorists (slash terrorists) think it's funny or somehow okay to harass people with a deadly weapon.

i truly believe that when you meet someone who is hateful and intolerant and drives a monster truck with tailgate testicles, it is your obligation to befriend that person, to try to understand where he's coming from and what he's been through and then when he's not looking slip chemical castration into his budweiser.

it's the only way to be sure.

A solution that very nicely fits into my Buddhist beliefs... no killing... compassion... securing a happier future for everyone...

Thanks, Brandon!!

I got my Artificial Duck order on my birthday (yesterday). It's the present I paid for and love.

You know what's odd is that the peacemakers had Jesus and scripture on their signs. That's not typical. In fact, it's many times the Jesus people and scripture-toters that are in full support of the war. Odd.

It's great that you flashed the peace sign. Had Avitable been there, he would have just flashed them. Yeesh.

Where do people get all of this terrible hatred from? And why do they think it's ok to be violent toward other human beings?

I like the psychedelic graphic. So happy... One of the few things in life I truly hate is mean people. I wish they weren't everywhere. If they were confined to a specific area, I'd know where NOT to go.

I got my loot today. It's all awesome. You did such a terrific job with those cards and I love my new t-shirts. Thank you so much. I feel like I robbed you, though. The prices were so good, plus extra cards, I hope you aren't losing money. Thanks again.

I drive around this little valley of ours in a "furreign rig" with a "COEXIST" sticker and a peace sign on the back. Sometimes I think I must be brave because people here can be so nasty about such things. Plus, my luggage pod on top has a "One solution comes up every morning" sticker. One of our neighbors actually confronted me about that. Makes me crazy living here sometimes.
