Dave! Ooooh! A movie meme! I wonder why nobody thought of this one before? As seen on Kazza's Blog. The Rules: Pick ten movies you enjoy. Pick a line of dialogue that you like. As people guess the films, strike out the entry. NO CHEATING!

UPDATE: I went ahead and finished this up by answering #9 myself. It's kind of a shame nobody got this one, because that means none of you has seen the movie Creator. This thoughtful, charming, intelligent, romantic, funny film is one of my all-time favorites. The fact that it stars the brilliant Peter O'Toole is just icing on the cake. Run right out and rent it immediately.

#7-The Day the Earth Stood Still

I liked the Andromeda Strain better, but they're both classics from the same director.

Foul Play: A terrific comedy that actually has a great story. This quote is from Gloria's best friend and co-worker Stella, explaining the true nature of all men.

Bedazzled: A clever film featuring a goddess (Elizabeth Hurley) as the devil. This quote is when she is explaining why Elliot gets to keep his soul after all.

The Day the Earth Stood Still: One of my favorite sci-films of all time that's even more relevant today as it was in 1951. This quote is from doctors discussing Klaatu's amazing health properties (before lighting up a couple of cigarettes).

This is a shot in the dark, but is #2 The Commitments by any chance? "Dark End of the Street" is one of the songs from that movie and has been going through my head ever since I read your post.

The Long Kiss Goodnight: Surprisingly excellent action flick with Samuel L. Jackson at his best. This quote is when Perkins is about to explain the mystery of Samantha's missing memory while a dumbfounded Mitch realizes he's officially in over his head.

The Commitments was another terrific film, but not the source of the quote. This one is arguably the most difficult of the ten, but #9 is probably a more obscure reference.

Richard is two-for-two!

Leon (known in the States as "The Professional"): A Luc Besson masterpiece that starred a very young Natalie Portman and an always-engaging Jean Reno. This quote is from Leon as he is beginning to teach Mathilda the assassination business so she can avenger her brother.

Strange Days: A terrific but overlooked near-future film written by James Cameron. The first quote is Mace explaining to Lenny why reliving recorded memories are not all they're cracked up to be. The second is Lenny explaining to Mace how his illegal peddling of those memories is a benefit to mankind.

Dark City: An overlooked sci-fi gem by Alex Proyas. The first quote is Murdock questioning the total lack of daylight hours in the mysterious city. The second is when he is attempting to find the ever-elusive Shell Beach that everybody knows about, but nobody knows where it is or how to get there.

Real Genius: Val Kilmer back when he was doing those terrific comedies. The first quote is Susan spelling out her rather lofty standards for a man. The second is Prof. Hathaway paving the way for a popcorn revenge scenario.

Wonder Boys: An amazing film that should have done major box office based just on the cast alone: Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Frances McDormand, Robert Downey Jr., Katie Holmes, Rip Torn... and all directed by Curtis "L.A. Confidential" Hanson. But, for some reason, the film was badly overlooked. Highly, highly recommended!

The first quote is James Leer making a clever observation on Professor's Tripp's terrific trunk space (after having shot the dean's dog, Poe). The second is the dean's wife explaining to her boyfriend why her husband is a basket case.
