The sad news is that CSS allows amazing control over the look of a web site with very little excess code... yet because Microsoft just doesn't care enough to become standards-compliant, I am forced to clutter up my site with tons of extra code for tables and transparent GIFs that I shouldn't even need. But sadly, as you say, since close to 90% of the people visiting are going to be doing so with their dumbass IE browser, what choice do I have? Evil, evil Microsoft.

for years and years I refused to use it - I used Netscape 3 until probably two years ago! Unfortunately later versions of netscape were just to slow, and by the time any decent sort of replacement came around I was well and truly used to using IE. So yes, I've sold my soul to the devil.. sorry .. :)

Have you tried FireFox? It's quite nice, and is available for Windows. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
