Sucking

Posted on Monday, January 24th, 2011

Dave!Today just sucked. It sucked hard.

And at every point I thought that it couldn't get any worse, it did. All day long I kept telling myself that it would all get better once I headed home. Everything would be okay if I could just get through the day.

I was wrong, of course.

This is what happened to ME today after work (I'm in the blue car)...

Going to Turn

Car Ahead of Me Changes Mind

Car Ahead of Me Turns Back in Front of Me

I Slam on My Brakes

It was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen. Somebody ahead of me changed their mind about where they wanted to go. Rather than continuing down the road and making a legal turn later on... they cut back in front of me. Had I not slammed on the brakes, I would have crashed right into them. I still don't know if they saw me and didn't care, didn't see me and didn't care, or didn't care and didn't care.

Just goes to show... once things start to suck, they just go on sucking until somebody dies.

So long as it's not me, I suppose I can live with that.

This is why I try to stay out of cars as much as possible. I don’t trust anyone around me to drive intelligently.

  2. Megan says:

Yeah. Today sucked. Glad you got out of it alive.

  3. Robin says:

May I suggest some chocolate pudding?

  4. Lisa says:

Today started off with a hacked email account for me, but it got mildly better after that. I’m glad you’re ok!

    • Dave2 says:

Ugh. I hate it when that happens! My work account has been hacked TWICE. Fortunately, the server is down the street and I can walk down to repair the damage, but it’s still embarrassing to have people sending emails in my name!

  5. I had to follow some twat on a motor scooter down a 2 lane road with no passing room as they drove 1 MPH this morning. I feel for you. (it lasted for 10 MILES!)

  6. And here I thought Phoenix had the market cornered on stupid, inconsiderate drivers. I’m beginning to think it’s a nation-wide phenomenon.

    Glad you’re okay!

    • Dave2 says:

Thanks to mobile phones, drive-thrus, in-car televisions, and all the other distracting crap in people’s cars now-a-days, it’s surprising that anybody bothers to look at the road at all!

  7. Invader_Stu says:

    Sounds like a Dutch driver

    • Dave2 says:

I’ve driven many places around The Netherlands and haven’t had many problems. Most of the time problems are MY fault because I don’t know how to drive on roundabouts very well!

  8. bo says:

Your graphic looks a bit like Spy Hunter and now I have the Peter Gunn theme in my head. Which is awesome.

Too bad your car doesn’t have machine guns and smokescreen, though. Could’ve allowed for some swift revenge and a perfect getaway!

    • Dave2 says:

I totally ripped off Spy Hunter! I used to love, love, LOVE that game. So many times when I’m driving down the road I pretend that I’m playing Spy Hunter… only to realize I don’t have guns, smoke screens, surface-to-air missiles, or oil slicks in my car.

I really need to get guns, smoke screens, surface-to-air missiles, and oil slicks for my car!

  9. Sybil Law says:

But THEY suck, and YOU don’t, so that’s good.
GAH. Fucking imbecile drivers. I deal with them every single day. I still need an old, steel muscle car so when they hit me their car is torn to shreds. Fuckers!
    I’m glad you’re okay, though.

  10. Michelle M. says:

That’s nuts! Maybe your next car should be a tank.

  11. the muskrat says:

I thought this was going to turn into another “I got hit by a car” post. At least you were protected by your car this time (and didn’t get hit).

    • Dave2 says:

A part of me wanted to speed up so they’d nail my POS car and I could get a new one! I really should have gone for it.

      • the muskrat says:

Yes! That’s what insurance and good lawyers are for! Sort of.

I had a 1987 Mercedes 190e with nearly 200k miles that needed major repair back in 2004 when, as if by magic, it was stolen and totaled. USAA totally paid more than a private buyer would’ve for the car!
