  1. Dave2 says:

And please, please, please let me not have to do this for Obama in four years.

  2. Hilly says:

    …door hit ya.
    …God split ya.
    Yadda yadda yadda.

  3. I know it’s not the popular opinion here, but I don’t believe he’s a completely bad man. There are many good things he’s done, particularly his aid for Africa against malaria and AIDs. Admittedly, any president could do this, but the amount increased significantly during his administration.

We also haven’t been attacked in seven years, which is something.

Now, some of the particular methods which that have been enacted to keep us safe, losing our focus on the real enemy, and a host of other things are things to criticize for sure.

  4. Sinjin says:

    and gooood riddance!

  5. Pachinko Sid says:

    Bye Bye Georgy!!
so terribly sad to see you go..

I really hope we dont have a sequel in a few years when BUSH III(Jeb) tries his hand at Presidency..

    DEATH DESTRUCTION AND MAYHEM ENSUES!!!

  6. A Lewis says:

I wish you were here CELEBRATING with all of us!

  7. Dubya can’t vacate fast enough for my tastes!

  8. B.E. Earl says:

    …and good riddance!

  9. Dickie Maxx says:

So glad that he is gone.

  10. Finn says:

That was rather polite. Are you getting soft in your old age?

  11. Twinkie says:

I agree with Michael Merrit. He wasn’t that bad. Well, I mean… he could have been worse.

  12. Greg says:

Huzzah! The Reign of Error is over!!!!

  13. kilax says:

I was in a meeting today, and one of the meeting members had to leave at 10:30 because crews from ABC were coming to videotape his crew taking down the Bush photo in his (federal) building. It kind of made me laugh that they were going to videotape that and potentially air it. They don’t even have the Obama photo ready to replace it!

  14. Lexxie says:

    yay obama! so happy 🙂

  15. Whit says:

It’s been a long time coming.

  16. whall says:

While I loath to interrupt the ever-popular Bush Bash Fest (ok, I actually don’t), WHY WHY WHY do people HATE so much? You people act as though he crept through the night, stole your precious baby in it’s crib, took it home, violated it and sold it to the highest bidder.

Bush is the biggest scapegoat our country has ever produced.

    – Appointed more women and minorities to high posts than anyone ever. (blacks, women, cubans, asian-americans)
    – Banned federal eminent domain seizures
    – Proposed increasing SCHIP funding by $5 BILLION but was demonized by the media as wanting to starve kids because he didn’t increase funding as much as the liberals wanted to.
    – Humanitarian aid to africa (mentioned above)
    – Put forth federal ban on racial profiling
    – Took out Saddam
    – outlawed partial-birth abortion (does anyone disagree with this? really?)
    – Extended federal benefits to same-sex couples
    – steadfast loyalty with the troops
    – expansion of IRA, 401K and self-directed retirement plans
    – prescription drug plan for seniors
    – caught countless al-Qa’ida and made it clear we weren’t to be messed with after 9/11

Gee. To me, it seems Bush did a lot to empower the individual, and Congress/Obama want to do a lot to empower the Government.

No wonder those who want OTHERS to do more for them hate Bush.

  17. Dave2 says:

First of all, I don’t hate Bush. I try not to hate anybody. I stamped “FAIL!” not “HATE!”

Second of all, lumping me in with “those who want OTHERS to do more for them hate Bush” – is a stereotypical generalization with no basis in fact. I have held a job since I was 15, getting work release from school to do so. Painting me as somebody who sits on their ass expecting to be provided for because I feel the Bush administration is a failure is an argument that doesn’t hold water.

What I find interesting is how your list shifts standards to make its points (how can Republicans be dead-set against entitlements, but applaud Bush’s prescription drug program for seniors, which is the biggest entitlement in the history of US government?). Or has things on it that ANY politician would do, and not necessarily for the right reasons… appointing more minorities to higher posts? Are you kidding? To NOT do so would be political suicide! Any politician worth their salt and wanting success would decry the white-dominated political arena, even if they were a closet racist! That really proves nothing.

But where your list fails to convince is that it doesn’t attribute a cost to Bush’s “successes.” Sure he “got Saddam”… a very bad man responsible for reprehensible things… but are we safer because of it? As I understand it, Osama Bin Laden’s group orchestrated 9/11, and he’s still out there. Wouldn’t success have been to heed the warnings he got about terrorists stealing commercial aircraft and using them as weapons… thus preventing 9/11 from even happening in the first place? But no… Bush ignored such warnings as “ass-covering” and 9/11 happened on his watch. Then he invaded a country which had no direct connection to 9/11, ramming the terrorist attacks down our throats as an excuse to get away with whatever he wanted to do, including encroaching on our freedoms. This is not success, it’s a recipe for the disaster we are living right now. I feel less safe than I have ever felt.

And where do you get “steadfast loyalty with the troops?” I’d argue that his every action shows he doesn’t give a shit about our troops. He ignored advisors and military leaders, choosing only to listen to them once troops were in harm’s way (and then only half-heartedly). He sent soldiers to die for us, then joked about it. He committed brave men and women to danger with no exit strategy to get them out. And they’re STILL THERE… MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! Our troops deserve far, far better than the treatment they got at Bush’s hand.

I could go on and on… environment, economy, education, health care, jobs, security, etc., etc… but why? All you really have to do is look around and ask yourself if this country is in better or worse shape now than when Bush got into office. By any measure you take… whether it’s the fiscal irresponsibility of taking the 5.6 TRILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS he inherited from Clinton and turning it into a 10.5 TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT… or record unemployment… or rising health care costs making us sicker and more costly to care for… or Katrina (a blunder so massive as to be criminal)… the failure is everywhere you look. But the FOX News crowd can never admit to this, instead they blame Clinton for everything, making HIM the biggest scapegoat our country has ever produced.

In the end, this is all spinable any way you like. As for me, I cry FAIL!

    EPIC FAIL!!!

But the reason I am the most happy to see him gone is this: President Bush didn’t represent an entire nation, just the pieces of it he wanted to. He used his personal beliefs and agenda to dictate policy over a diverse set of peoples without regard to the consequences for his country or the world. That’s the ultimate failure of a US President, and why I won’t miss him even a little bit. Will Obama do any better? That remains to be seen. But when it comes to Bush, it’s not like he can do any worse.

  18. martymankins says:

I think Wayne is the only person who probably recited all of those “positives” from the top of his head. The rest of us had to go out and really check to see what Bush did that benefited the majority of the US citizens.

I do, however, take issue with one item Wayne listed above… prescription drug plan for seniors.

I personally know many seniors that didn’t benefit from this. When Bush passed this law, many of the costs of these prescriptions went up. There was a nice long list of drugs that didn’t qualify for the reduced cost. The negotiations with the pharmaceutical companies fell short of actually knowing what most of the drugs that the majority of seniors were actually taking at the time. My late mother had 3 drugs that actually went up from what she was paying before. Granted, one only went up $10 (from $20), but several generic brands that were covered before were suddenly not covered anymore, replaced by the brand name being covered, at a significantly higher co-pay.

I could go on about that, but sure, that’s just one item that I saw that wasn’t a benefit to some. Maybe there’s a large number of older people out there that did benefit from it… I don’t know. All I know is whatever positives Bush did do, were overshadowed by the mess we have today…. and not just Bush, but any elected official that swallowed his Doctrine – lock, stock and barrel.

  19. kapgar says:

You forgot “EPIC” at the beginning.

  20. Justin Scott says:

    Politics are dirty.

    But your picture is magnificent.

  21. Karl says:

    Indeed, massive failure.

  22. liz says:

you won’t have to do it in 3 years for Obama, you can do it now! Why Wait

    • Dave2 says:

Despite him lying about government transparency and not having the balls to get anything done, I am rather fond of having a president in office that can speak in complete sentences. Not a total FAIL! yet… but we’ll see…

  23. whall says:

Dave, a minor correction if I may.

“I am rather fond of having a president in office that can speak in complete sentences, when his teleprompter has not malfunctioned.”

The guy can only speak eloquently on pre-determined topics, with pre-determined answers, with electronic visual help.

    • Dave2 says:

Ha! Yes, but at least when President Obama uses a teleprompter, the words didn’t have to be spelled out phonetically! 🙂

Obviously Obama is going to be a better speaker with a prepared speech and a teleprompter… anybody would be. But despite the “teleprompter defense” being the favorite counter-attack by Obama critics (it seems to be the standard knee-jerk response), the truth is that Obama has had many perfectly elegant discourses in complete sentences without one. I struggle to say the same about President Bush, who managed to mangle just about every speech, interview, Q&A, address, redress, statement, rally, and greeting he ever gave. At least every one I ever saw.
