Glasses

Posted on Monday, December 24th, 2007

Dave! After one of the most painless travel days ever, I finally arrived home... for one night only. Tomorrow morning I re-pack my bags and head back out. Which is kind of a bummer, because I could use a few days at home.

In other news... I'm old.

I got a Happy Holiday card from Avitable, and I couldn't read it until I put on an old pair of reading glasses I found laying around. Then I started looking at books, magazines, and other stuff... and suddenly realized that I really need glasses now...

Dave Glasses

That's a heck of a reality check to have on a holiday.

Where does the time go?

reading glasses are necessary for everyone — if they live long enough. Every Christmas, New Year’s, and birthday brings one closer. I like your reading glasses better than mine!

  2. Hilly Sue says:

Hell, I couldn’t read his card without my glasses AND contacts on ;). On the bright side, at least it was amusing, right? :).

I am glad that you had en easy flight home for once, well yanno…except for the gum smacking whore issue.

  3. Avitable says:

To be fair, the small print on the card was actually small print! I almost couldn’t read it, and I’m a young’un compared to you.

  4. amanda says:

Avitable’s Christmas card made me need reading glasses and I’m 23… damn lawyers

  5. sizzle says:

the time flies…and on a brighter note, you’d look hot in specs. 😉

  6. Mr. Fabulous says:

Old? Bitch, please. I should come out there and kick your ass for that…

    I’M old.

    Merry Christmas!

  7. Aunt Robin says:

I first noticed that problem when I tried to thread a needle a few years ago. Now I carry two pairs of reading glasses in my purse, one for Dan and the other for myself.

Welcome to the club, old man. 🙂

I hope you enjoy a day of peace and safe travels.

  8. martin says:

O Dave I have been there. I have to check that I have my specs everytime I go out now. It is a slap in the face…tempus fugit and all that.
    Hava a happy Christmas.

  9. AnnieB says:

    Merry Christmas!

  10. Kyra says:

Just remember that the right kind of glasses are very sexy. 😉

  11. Hope you have a nice holiday, you old guy!

  12. Miss Ann Thrope says:

I recently discovered my vision was no longer perfect. The doctor said I was suffering from, “You’re in your 40’s now” syndrome. Eh.

PS: I know you don’t celebrate all of these pagan (xtian) holidays but I sent a card anyway ’cause I thought it was cute.

  13. chillywilly says:

Even at 44, my vision is still mostly good… until I try to read small print on the side of a box. Then it takes a few tries to get all the numbers.

Guess it’s time for another eye exam to see how bad the 40’s are treating me.

  14. Hey, at least you had glasses around. Once I had to scan a document so that I could blow it up and read the fine print.

  15. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was three. What’s your point?

  16. Dave2 says:

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was young too… but READING glasses?
