Hat

Posted on Monday, June 18th, 2007

Dave! The drive back to Seattle was fairly uneventful. About the only interesting bit was when I hit a wall of fog coming down from the top of Snoqualmie Pass. It was so dense that you were lucky if you could see two car-lengths ahead of you. This made for some tricky maneuvering past vehicles that decided to stop in the middle of the highway.

After work it was time to hit Johnny Rockets for a veggie burger dinner, and then pick up my new hat. One of my blue Helly Hansen caps had gone missing, so I special-ordered one to replace it...

Dave's New Hat

H/H hats always start out this beautiful deep blue color, then eventually fade to a nice dark navy. But the best part is that they shrink to a really good fit after getting wet a couple of times. Nothing quite so nice as a good-fitting cap!

Fortunately I escaped Helly Hansen with my wallet in-tact. I am not much of a shopper, but I could easily blow through $1000 in about 10 minutes there. I guess everybody has their shopping kryptonite.

I just wish mine was at someplace less expensive.

Oooh! I just noticed that my hotel room has a different view than last time! This time I'm overlooking Fantasy Unlimited...

Fantasy Unlimited
Fantasy Unlimited... home of "Provocative Playthings!"

This is kind of a surprise, because I thought that Fantasy Unlimited had gone out of business. They used to be located downtown... I have fuzzy memories of getting totally drunk with friends and goofing off with all the crazy crap they sell there. I'm pretty sure that we were asked to leave once when we decided to have a strap-on cock-fight.

Hmmm... perhaps I won't sit here and watch television for the rest of the night after all...

Yay, the pic turned out very cute! Great hat and damn, your beard looks all perfectly trimmed in this picture :).

Can you just hold on a minute while I come over so you can take me to the Fantasy Unlimited. I figure a first timer like me needs a seasoned vet as her tour guide ;).

  2. Dave2 says:

The filter I use to get rid of the grain sometimes does funny things to photos taken with my laptop’s built-in camera. I look all painted and stuff.

I am entirely too sober for a trip to Fantasy Unlimited… without being drunk, I think I’d find it too disturbing. So feel free to drop by, but we need to hit a few bars first!

  3. Hilly says:

I’ve got the booze in my purse! Like I said…something pink ;).

  4. Baak says:

Weird – that hat is turning your beard blue too.

Good thing it wasn’t underwear. 😉

  5. Dave2 says:

Hilly… I most certainly am not going to go buy sex toys tonight! Tomorrow, maybe. But not tonight!

Baak… It’s kind of dark, so I used Photoshop’s “Shadows and Highlights” filter to brighten the photo up. I’m too lazy to color-correct it too, so I’m just going to have to stay blue!

  6. Foo says:

Helly Hanson is the best cha-ching evah!. My husband dropped an easy grand plus on his snowboarding clothes, while I dropped another 5 hundy on under stuff. Love me my body huggin’ HH thermals.

  7. Mooselet says:

Is the fascade on that building a castle? Cool!

  8. Dave2 says:

Foo… They even have casual shirts now, and they all look and feel terrific. Bleh. There goes more money. 🙁

Mooselet… Yes! The castle of L-O-V-E-!!

  9. Catherine says:

My, what big eyes you have!
There is a lot of intelligence swimming around in those peepers, yo.

  10. Brandon says:

Where in the world did you guys find roosters while drunk in downtown Seattle?

  11. serap says:

On the left hand side of that second picture it looks like something is trying to climb the fence to get into Fantasy Unlimited… and if I squint my eyes, it looks a bit like… hang on, could it be… Bad Monkey?!

  12. Dave2 says:

Catharine… Or insanity… you be the judge! 🙂

Brandon… Fantasy Unlimited stocks them next to the hamsters.

Serap… Bad Monkey is such a good customer that Fantasy Unlimited picks him up in a limo when he wants to shop there. No need for him to climb a fence to get in… they roll out the red carpet! 😀

  13. jacquie says:

You make that HH hat look very good.

  14. Kyra says:

Hmmm so, if I sent you a list of things to pick up, do you think you could stop in for me? I’m completely out of body honey-dust. 😉

  15. Avitable says:

I misread your post to say you hit a thick log! Phew.

  16. Lewis says:

God,I get so confused…..so, you’re not supposed to just stop and park your car in the middle of I-90 in fog? Hum.
Really dig the cap….hats, along with a few other clothing items, can be addicting for me. And, the video store….ahh….definitely good times. But, strap on cocks? Thanks for inviting me. Really appreciate the invite.

  17. Wayne Hall says:

For an “unlimited” kind of place, it looks rather small. Methinks I’d get pretty limited there.

  18. Dave2 says:

Jacquie… It’s probably the other way around. 🙂

Kyra… Sounds like it would be great on toast!

    Avitable… Well, I don’t mean to brag or anything…

Lewis… Considering I rarely get to use mine now-a-days, I’m sure you’d beat me in a fight. Errr… come out ahead. Uhhh…is there any way of saying this that isn’t either grossly offensive or oddly titillating? 🙂

  19. Stephanie P says:

Love the pic, Dave. You are too cute!

  20. Laurence says:

    Nice hat ! 😉

P.S. Are you sure that it is the castle of L-O-V-E ? I read… And I think it is the castle of S-E-X !!! But maybe I don’t understand ! 😉

  21. RW says:

I don’t wear ballcaps, unlike you when I wear them I look like a dork.

    *cough*

  22. Bec says:

Beautiful photo… but come on ‘strap on cock fight? Search engine traffic light if i ever saw one!

  23. Suzanne says:

Why are you having to spend so much time in our fair city these days? i no unnerstan…

  24. Dave2 says:

Stephanie… Sigh. It’s my cross to bear, I guess. 😀

Laurence… I’m pretty sure there’s plenty of BOTH going on in there!

RW… Awww… that’s because you aren’t used to seeing yourself in a cap. Wear one for a while and get used to it! 🙂

Bec… Yeah, and won’t the poor Google-searching bastards be disappointed! 🙂

Suzanne… It’s for work this time. I also have loads of friends over here, so I’m over a couple of times each month at least. 🙂

  25. jenny says:

ok, so that is WAY better than an oceanview room… pick me up some souvenirs, would you? 😉

  26. Peggy Archer says:

I feel your pain – my shopping kryptonite is Patagonia, which is about the same, price-wise.

    Nice Technorati Tags, BTW 🙂

  27. bogup says:

    Dave2,
Do you believe that imitation is the highest form of flattery? I hope so, since I bought one of those caps — after searching for almost a half hour on the web to find the only store that carries them. Therefore, if you see someone in Seattle with the same one, it’ll be me, OK?

  28. Nancycle says:

HH hat aside, your personal grooming is OUTSTANDING.
