Dave!I am wondering how many consecutive 16 to 18 hour work-days one can work before it kills them.

And by "them" I mean "me".

Because it's going on two weeks now, and I am almost dead. With at least another week of this yet to go, I'm thinking that my demise is at hand. I need to win a billion dollars in the lotto soon because this sucks ass. Of course this necessitates that I actually buy me some lotto tickets, but that's just details.

Dave Dead

A pity that I'm not a detail-oriented person.

Instead all I am is exhausted.

Red Bull and Hello Kitty Pop Tarts.

  2. Dave2 says:

I hear cocaine is supposed to be good too, but I can’t afford it.

Hello Kitty Pop-Tarts and Red Bull it is then!

  3. Göran says:

Red Bull freaks me out, I get all wired and I don´t dare drink them anymore.

Why is there a universal law that makes work come only in two settings? None or way too much.

  4. James says:

Dude…you rock for taking the time to make a cartoon and post a entry when you should be in bed.

*pulls out fairy wand (don’t ask where I got it) and zaps you to sleep*

  5. Laurence says:

I will want to tell you that there is a miracle cure for exhaustion. But, there is not. I lived at this rhythm of work of May in December 2005 (without any catch of drugs). I can certify to you that I do not have any memory of what I did ou said to December. I had a head of unearthed. I believe that I had to sleep all January. But I do not remember it more either. Oh my God, now that I do think of it, what I could make during this January ?

  6. babyoog says:

Isn’t it weird how we can work 16, 18, even 20 hours a day and still not have enough money for a little coke? Or milk? Or an oil change? Or [insert whatever you’re into]?

    Hang in there Dave.

  7. adena says:

    Oh god.

I’ve worked those before, but for only like a week and a half at a time. (Q-ends in the corporate finance world)

By the end of 1 1/2 weeks, I was completely loopy and/or raging bitch.

    I can’t imagine 3 weeks.

    You poor, poor thing.

  8. ms. sizzle says:

you need rest! and a massage!

  9. Eve says:

I’ve never had to pull that much overtime, but my husband has had to do that many times and he is a graphics guy like you, so I can imagine.

Dead Dave actually looks quite peaceful. Hopefully, when I die a skull and crossbones will appear above my corpse, too.

Hope the OT slavery ends soon.

  10. claire says:

I once worked on a show for 4 consecutive 18 hr days followed by 2- 14 hr days and then quit because I knew the next 2 weeks would only get worse. Their last day was a 24 hr day and one of the guys I’d worked with crashed his car on his way home. He was ok, but his car was totalled.

Be careful, Dave, especially if you have to drive.

  11. Kevin says:

While I don’t envy you, I certainly feel sorry for you and hope it all works itself out.

  12. Wayne Hall says:

Dude, I’m there. For all you folks who haven’t worked a 100-hour week, you’re truly missing out.

    And I sorta envy you.

A 100-hour week just plain sucks. I had 8 last year between September and December. I’ve had 2 in the last 2 months. And one of them was actually… get this… a 120-hour week.

Think about 100-hour week. that’s an AVERAGE of 14hrs a day. It would almost be bearable if it was just 14hrs a day. But nooooooo – some of them are 26 hour days, then about 4-5 hrs of sleep, then another 18-20 hours.

Dave, way to go on keepin up the blogosphereoramagraphy.
