Memeical

Posted on Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

Dave!I first saw this meme at Chronic Listaholic, and misunderstood it to be that you have to answer every question using only the title of songs by The Eagles. Now I see that Kevin over at Kapgar has done it, and apparently you get to choose the band you want to answer with.

Now that I can do...

Choose a band/artist and answer ONLY in titles of their songs...
Based solely on question #5, I'm going to have to go with Depeche Mode. I should try it again with either a-ha or Erasure, because they both have some songs that are perfect for this kind of thing.

Depeche Mode

1. Are you male or female?
"Somebody"? (see, if I was going with Erasure, I could have answered "Boy"!).

2. Describe yourself:
"People are People" (hey, I should have said "Sweetest Perfection"!).

3. How do some people feel about you:
"Just Can't Get Enough" (because can you ever really have enough Dave?).

4. How do you feel about yourself:
"Dangerous" (I could be dangerous if I wanted to).

5. Describe your ex boyfriend/girlfriend:
For the last one it would have to be "Now This is Fun".
For the one before that, "A Pain That I'm Used To"".
For the one before that, "Lie to Me".
For the one before that, "Barrel of a Gun".
(Thankfully, I don't have to answer "Shake the Disease"!)

6. Describe your current significant other:
"Nothing".

7. Describe where you want to be:
"Behind the Wheel" (I was going to say "In Your Room" but thought that might scare you).

8. Describe how you live:
"It Doesn't Matter" (because so few things in life actually do).

9. Describe how you love:
"I Feel You" (or, on occasion, "Strangelove").

10. What would you ask for if you had just one wish:
"Never Let Me Down Again" ("Policy of Truth" would also be nice).

11. Share a few words of wisdom:
Either "Nothing's Impossible" or "Everything Counts".

12. Now say goodbye:
"Leave in Silence".

Funny, I just went back to Chronic Listaholic so I could link to SJ for starting this, and see that she had asked to see me answer with Depeche Mode songs in the comments. Cue Twilight Zone theme here.

  1. Michelle says:

This looks like a great wee meme! Now just to think of a band that has the ‘answers’ to the questions…

  2. adena says:

I’m sure I could throw in a “Two Minute Warning” joke in there, somewhere.

  3. Kevin says:

    Very Twilight Zone.

Yeah, we have to be able to pick our own bands. How can we possibly expect to all pick different Eagles tunes? They’d all look the same.

Nice job. But I still like my “Stacked Actors” by Foo Fighters answer for the ex-girlfriend question.

“Dangerous”… isn’t that also a Michael Jackson tune? Heh heh. JK. 😉

  4. nic says:

I did it with David Bowie songs:

    Male/Female: “Lady Grinning Soul”
    Describe myself: “Cracked Actor”
    People describe me: “Aladdin Sane”
    Feel about myself: “Rebel, Rebel”
    My ex(es): “Young Americans”
    My current: “Without You”
Where I wanna be: “Station to Station”
    How I live: “Criminal World”
    How I love: “Modern Love”
    One wish: “Time”
    Words of wisdom: “Everything’s Alright”
Say good-bye: “I Wish You Would”

That was fun. Now what can I do?

  5. Chanakin says:

Wow. Nine Inch Nails took the questions in a completely different direction.

  6. Deb_LA says:

(running with meme under one arm) Um, this was fun, I’m stealing this…

  7. SJ says:

Dave2, get real! How long have I attended The Church of Daveism? I couldn’t call myself a true Daveist if I didn’t know something as basic as His Daveness nurses an unhealthy obsession with all things Depeche Mode.

  8. Alexis says:

I did something similar to this quite awhile ago – I believe I used They Might Be Giants. A wealth of goofy answer material there!

“I Feel You” is absolutely positively my most favoritest love song EVER. (I have to exclaim that whenever it’s mentioned.)

  9. ms. sizzle says:

my favorite answer is: “Dangerous” (I could be dangerous if I wanted to).

    🙂

  10. Nicole says:

Love the meme. I totally yanked it for my blog today.

  11. xtine says:

our lists are too damn similar…Depeche Mode, all day all night. great post!

  12. Belinda says:

How I prove I’m a bigger dork than anyone (or exponentially more COOL than anyone! ha-HA! All right, so it’s probably the dork angle): I WORE OUT the Erasure cover album of ABBA hits, “ABBA-esque.” Wore. It. OUT.

  13. Bec says:

I did this meme a while ago on last.fm… I let iTunes chose the band for me as well – it was having a day of hating me so it went for Alanis Morissette… mmmm….

Anyway, hope you hear lots of tunes you like today (probably at the parade being held in your honour).

Happy Birthday (wow, if I’ve got the date wrong I’ll hide under the desk until the pointing and laughing stops)!

  14. tigerjoe says:

I like this me-me idea; did using Aerosmith on my blog.

  15. d.w. says:

Nice one! I have scientifically determined that my entire world can be described in Fall song titles.

  16. Katuska says:

Love it, love it, love it.
Your Blog rocks, I’m gonna add you to my Fav’s if that’s OK?

    Go Dave!!
