Doggy

Posted on Monday, August 22nd, 2005

Dave! With the very last episode of Six Feet Under still haunting me, I've finally gotten to the point where I can blog about what happened last Wednesday without becoming a giant ball of all-consuming rage. I seem to have mellowed to the point where I am merely "furious" about the ordeal. I mean, once you're dead, who really cares?

Last Wednesday was a very difficult day. My crowded travel plans suddenly became even more crowded, and I felt overwhelmed in trying to schedule back-to-back international trips... particularly when trying to figure out where I would be able to find time to grab fresh clothes and change my underwear.

So after battling the calendar for hours, I was ready to head home and watch a few more episodes of Roswell: The Final Season on DVD and eat a frozen pizza. So there I was driving through town when IT happens.

As I am stopped at a corner, I see a young dog walking along the sidewalk. He happened to notice two guys walking toward him with food, and decides to go say hello... assumably to see if he might be able to get a bite to eat. But as he approaches, one of the guys yells at the poor animal, which causes the pup to stop dead in his tracks. Then the other guy walks right up to the dog and kicks him. Hard.

Now, keep in mind that the dog wasn't attacking him. The dog wasn't even approaching him anymore. This guy was just a complete bastard who thinks that it's big fun to hurt innocent animals. There's simply no other way to interpret his actions. He's a sadistic f#@% that should be locked away or shot.

My temperature went from calm to boiling instantly, and I immediately bailed from my car to go check on the dog as he tried to get away. He wasn't limping, but you could tell that the wind had been knocked out of him, as he was walking kind of clumsily.

DAVE: WHAT THE F#@% DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!? HE WASN'T GOING TO HURT YOU!!

SADISTIC DOG-KICKING F#@%ER: Eh, it was buggin' me.

WTF?!?

Seriously, WTF?!?

I am dying to know how this could even remotely be considered reason enough to kick a dog. He was "buggin' you?" I will never forget how the dog started to get a little excited when the guy came up to him... then watching him get beat to shit for being so trusting.

I couldn't get ahold of the dog to check him over and be sure there wasn't anything broken... he tore out of there just as soon as he came to his senses, and who could blame him. For all I know, he had his ribs snapped and died from internal injuries a few hours later. I will probably never know, but it certainly looked like a bad kick from where I was sitting... and I can't get the picture of such nonsensical violence out of my head.

Even now, five days later.

What kind of world do we live in where even the thought of something like this is considered to be acceptable behavior? How can we possibly hope for a non-violent future, when idiots are capable of inflicting such harm on an innocent animal? Why does society let this type of thing go on in the first place?

It's a sick, sad world, and sometimes I just want out.

God. That’s just awful. I hope that poor dog is okay and a giant kicked that stupid asshole.

    Movie is 101 Dalmatians?

  2. Jackie says:

Yeah that is seriously messed up. I would have been really, really upset if I saw someone doing that to an animal. Poor thing. You should have kicked that man because he was “Buggin'” you. Heh.

  3. erik smilda says:

How sick can a person be to do such a thing.
Is it caused by a really sad childhood or is that to easy.
Are the parents to blame or what.
It’s “buggin me” that this kind of behaviour is getiing worse and worse to the point that they are adults and are becoming mass murderers.
Stop those guys in there tracks and try and get some sens in them.

  4. kazza says:

    That’s disgusting 🙁
There’s something about people who are cruel to animals that sickens me even more that people who are cruel to other people.
I can see why you’d need to calm down for a few days before blogging about it too..

  5. becca says:

It’s times like that when you have to take a slow deep breath and think of karma. No one like that can be a remotely happy human being. Nor does he deserve to be.

  6. Kevin says:

    Jesus.

It’s now that I wish onboard video cameras were standard features in cars so that could be recorded and sent to local news media. They’d have a field day.

How can people be that sadistic? If you don’t want to give the dog anything, just ignore it. Don’t beat the living hell out of it just for being friendly and inquisitive.

  7. karla says:

Dave your post just makes me want to cry. I think that what you do to an animal should be done back to you. That man will get his desserts, i promise. His ass will be kicked in hell.
I’d still be upset too. I send you a hug. And one for the poor dog as well.

  8. SJ says:

I am seriously proud to “know” you right now, Dave2. Most people would have looked the other way and drove on. You jumped out and took action. Kudos to you.

Like Becca, my strong belief in karma is what keeps me from losing it when I hear about things like this. Creeps who have to abuse living creatures smaller than themselves to feel like “big men” sicken me. Their karma will bite them in the ass someday, without doubt.

  9. Cavan says:

This is why, when you finally go on your murderous rampage to eliminate all the bastards like this in the world, I’ll be standing outside the prison with a “Free Dave” sign.

  10. Troy says:

I really can’t understand that kind of insensitivity and coldheartedness. I’m sure that some form of retribution will be paid by this ass, be it in this life or the next.

  11. Michelle says:

I agree SJ, no doubt the guy who did that was a bully at school, picking on kids “lesser” than him. What an asshole.

  12. TinaPoPo says:

Jesus, why do people do that? As I was reading your post, as soon as I read the word “dog”, I thought “Oh no.” The worst part is, the poor dog was excited to see the people…God.

  13. Richard says:

Where’s a werewolf when you need one?

  14. Anonymous says:

the person that did that to the dog HAS NO SOUL. There is no other explaination for hurting an animal other than they are soul dead people. Call PETA asap!

  15. Randy says:

“How can we possibly hope for a non-violent future, when idiots are capable of inflicting such harm on an innocent animal? Why does society let this type of thing go on in the first place?

It’s a sick, sad world, and sometimes I just want out.”

I don’t think the future will be very non-violent. This scumbag dog-kicker is only the tip of the of the iceberg of our sick world.

To be totally non-PC, I would say that the religions of the world are going to bring the curtains down. I’m not a doomsdayer or end of the world person. But I feel that many religions are so sensitive, that the verbal comments lead to verbal fighting, lead to war…It’s going to lead to no one being able to say anything, for fear of offending…in the meantime the extremists, hiding under the cloak of their religion will blow up more buildings…
…and that’s my story of the world future…somehow motivated by the innocent dog being kicked…That person who kicked just had no sense of decency and somehow felt that it was right for whatever sick reason…this is the same mentality of the religious wackos who do bad things…

  16. Art says:

Maybe he was probably just takin a well needed rest from beatin his wife or mother. What’s a guy to do, you use your hands and arms all day and go out for a brisk walk and a second wife/mother beatin wind, and there’s a dog that needs beatin? You use your legs and feet.
I’m tellin ya we need “Anarchy moments” to be written into law. All the bad guys have them already. You could have made a withdrawal Dave.

  17. Anthony says:

Thats sick. Assholes like that should receieve vengence.
