XboX

Posted on Tuesday, June 1st, 2004

Dave!I am not a big video game fan... I never really have been because I just don't have the time to play them. But every once in a while I see a game that I want quite badly to play. For almost a year now, that game has been Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Problem is, in order to play it you have to either own a Windows PC or an XboX... both of which are spawns of the great Microsoft Evil Empire. Sure a Macintosh version has been promised for a while now, but it's going to cost $60 and who knows when it's going to be released or if it will even be any good.

So a quandary develops. I would sooner gouge out my liver with a rusty spoon before I ever purchase a Windows PC, so I guess the XboX would be the lesser of two evils.

But it's still Microsoft, a company which I loathe supporting... even with the $115 it costs to get an XboX (which is less than the cost of buying a copy of Windows isn't it?).

Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that I want to run around with a light saber like Samuel L. Jackson and take care of a little business...

Star Wars Game

Or hang out with Wookies...

Star Wars Game

Or open up a can of Jedi whoop-ass...

Star Wars Game

I mean, come on!! How sweet is that?!? This game looks better than the moronic movies George Lucas has been crapping out lately. And, unlike watching the films, if I run across Jar Jar Binks I can whip out my light saber and go all Darth Vader on his lame ass.

Arrrgh! I'm probably going to end up buying an XboX now that the price has dropped so low. How will I ever be able to live with myself?

This game is the best! I was so super hooked for quite awhile. And like the choose you own adventure books, you can go back and play it another way over and over. Microsoft sucks, but this game rocks!

AAAAAHHHHH! DON’T TELL ME THAT!! Now I just want to play it even more. D’oh! Now I’m off to order an XboX. — When I don’t have time to post new entries to Blogography because I am too busy being a Jedi Knight, everybody can blame Jenny! 🙂

  3. Dave2 says:

Well that was interesting. When I called to order the XboX and the Star Wars game, the guy told me I simply MUST have “XboX Live” because there is cool extra stuff you can get for the game… like new characters and worlds to explore. Also, he had a special bundle wher you can get the “Live” thing with a cool game called “Crimson Skies” which has a perfect 100% FRESH rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. What have I gotten myself into?

  4. jenny says:

Very cool! See you online or should I say “live”. BTW my hubby who like you is an apple boy and hisses everytime he looks at my windows box says that Microsoft loses money everytime an Xbox is sold. Thought that might make you feel a little better about the whole thing.
Well, see you in a couple months, when you stop playing.

  5. Dave2 says:

Oooh. So by purchasing an XboX, I am actually making Microsoft lose money? That’s a strange business model! But, on the other hand, they’ve got billions in cash sitting around, so I guess the market share must be more important than the money.

  6. John says:

KOTOR is the best RPG I’ve ever played. The Live content though was disappointing after waiting a year for it, just a few new items, and a new space station.

  7. Dave2 says:

I haven’t got to play my new XboX much, but what little time I have spent with it has been playing “Grand Theft Auto” Double Pack! Since I am not much of a gamer, I don’t know much about the games available out there, and relied on the sales guy for suggestions. He had me get Soul Caliber II, Grand Theft Auto, and Halo along with KOTOR (an airplane game called “Crimson Skies” came with the XboX Live kit). Out of all of them, GTA is the one that blows my mind. This game is dangerous, because I could easily waste hours just stealing cars and driving around… and not even completing any missions! I haven’t had time to hook up “Live” yet… maybe this weekend.
