Meet

Posted on Tuesday, June 15th, 2004

Dave!My blog is so compelling that now I have people flying in from Australia to meet me in person! Well, not really, but Karen (from her Kazza blog) who is Australian and was in the neighborhood did give me a call so we could meet for dinner in nearby Wenatchee. This is not the first time I've met up with a fellow blogger, but I do think she's from the furthest away I am likely to see (unless somebody drops by from Antarctica tomorrow morning for breakfast).

The good news is that she didn't feel compelled to stab me with a fork and run screaming from the restaurant after being forced to listen to me talk for hours on end. If it were me having to listen to me, I don't know that I would have been as forgiving.

Nope... it was a perfectly lovely dinner, and three hours passed in no time at all. Blogs can be pretty swell for things that like.

If you blog for long enough, you’ll meet all kinds of people through your website.

Through mine (http://www.bellybuttonwindow.com) I’ve met probably a dozen, in/from as many countries, and they’ve all been quite interesting.

From Thomas who found me an apartment in Beijing, to Harry who got me a job in Washington DC, some have even been lifesavers.

    Blog on!

Why is it that when I was searching for a name for my blog I wasn’t creative enough to come up with something as brilliant as “Belly Button Window”?? I think that surpasses my previous favorite of “Analog Cereal” for clever blog names. WARNING: unless you have several hours to kill, DO NOT visit Belly Button Window! Wayan lives a far more fascinating life than I could ever hope to have, and reading his blog entries is like eating potato chips… after each one you find yourself saying “just one more” until time slips away and suddenly you are late for work! Blog on indeed!

*grin* I had a lovely time, I’m very glad I got to meet you 🙂
