Posted on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Dave!Today Hilly-Sue and I went to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It was a lot of fun.

And now, breaking back into reality for a minute... this video is from Maine, but its message applies equally well to my fellow Washington State voters...

It still boggles my mind that I am afforded rights in this country that some of my friends are not. It is even more inexplicable how in the year 2009 there could ever be legislation in place to take even more of their rights away. These are people... people... the same as everybody else who are just trying to make their way through life the best way they know how, find happiness where they can, and enjoy the freedoms this country is supposed to be about. Nobody has the right to tell two consenting adults that their relationship is any less valid or special than anybody else's, no matter what they believe. It's unfair. It's un-American. It's inhuman.

  1. Hilly says:

Wow, all of those pictures turned out really well. It’s amazing considering half of them were taken on water rides and the other half while you had ash in your eye!

  2. I wish I was in the happiest place on Earth right now, so I can forget…..

Not happening anytime soon. Looked like a blast though. Where was the rabbit photo taken at?

  3. Finn says:

Yay for Mickey Mouse and yay for equality!

Hey, they pay the same taxes as everyone else. If we want to treat them as something other than equal they should at least get a discount. Maybe if we all take that position the conservatives will get behind equality.

  4. martymankins says:

Such happiness for you two. I wanted to see a pic of you a Mickey trick or treating together.

And hoping these idiots and bigots would just fade into the background and keep their segregationist ideas out of the public.

  5. Sybil Law says:

    That video made me cry!
    Amen.
    And great pics. 🙂

  6. In the two nights that we were around Disneyland last week you’d think we’d catch the fireworks right? Of course not. First night we were having drinks in Downtown Disney and missed it. Second night we were in line in one of the stores.

  7. Glad you’ve had fun at Magic Kingdom and AMEN with Approve Ref.71

  8. John says:

I belive that all people are people.

But, I think that the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy should stay. If it stays working like it is named, of course. There are some, although a minority, gays that want to force that lifestyle upon others. The only diffrence is that the amount of straits doing that is a majority. This law attempts to prevent that in the military. Gays don’t need to flaunt their orientation, and niether do straits. Once they get their rights, I think no person of any orientation should even mention it exept to signifigant others. And, sexual relationships of any kind aren’t allowed in the military, not just gay.

I was moved listening to the combat veteran of WW11. I served in the army at the tail end of the Korean war. I believe as you do that all people (not only here but all over the world) deserve to be treated with the dignity and with all of the freedoms of every other human being. When will we learn. Thanks for the chance to speak out.

  10. Faiqa says:

I love Disney World. And Hilly Sue. And Halloween. And gay marriage. You managed to put almost all of my favorite things in one post. Almost.

I love the cove it’s so much fun! But if you are looking for something more natural try a Crystal River Manatee swim. There are a bunch of businesses that do it, I can’t remember the one we used last Christmas but it’s really cool. Manatees and dolphins come up the river in search of warmer waters for the winter. It was amazing having these sea cows come up to you and tug on the boat, your toes, and clothes – we had a blast. It’s well worth the drive and price!

    Have fun and take care!

    Walt

  12. Kelly says:

I was passively enjoying your pics…and being a little bit jealous…when given that special treat of a video. Thank you!! Equality is the ONLY thing that makes sense.
